If you’ve managed to find a way to buy a PS5, the next step is to get games for your new console. Here’s our top 10 picks for the holidays.
Overcooked! All You Can Eat
Overcooked 1, 2, and all DLC combined with 4K60
No Man’s Sky: The Next Generation
Space exploration, countless planets and 32 player multi
The PlayStation 5 has statistically been the most hyped for console this year. There are a couple dozen games available through this year and next year, and it can be hard to decide what games you want to get for your new consoles.
That’s where we come in. Above are 10 (5 shown, 5 hidden behind show more button), PS5 games which we feel are great either for you, or for someone that you’re buying games for. Without further ado, here we go.
A super hard, spooky, action adventure remake
This game is the precursor to the precursor to hard games. Games have been compared to being “like Dark Souls but,” due to the game’s infamous difficulty, but the difficulty started in Demon’s Souls, a precursor.
Demon’s Souls was released in 2009 on the PS3 by From Software, 2 years before the infamous Dark Souls’ release date. The remake is a PS5 exclusive.
A spinoff-ish edition of the PS4’s Spider-Man
Spider-Man: Miles Morales sits in-between a remastered DLC for Spider-Man for the PS4, and a full blown spinoff. It’s been compared to Uncharted 4’s Lost Legacy expansion, which sat at an incredible 7 hours, making it more of like a full blown game compared to a normally small expansion.
This game is available on the PS4 and the PS5.
An eerie but cartoonish investigative adventure game
This brand new (ish) game follows you, an investigative reporter who travels to an island of mystery, which you source tells you is inhabited by bug/snack creatures. When you arrive however, your source disappears (spooky). This game from the developers of Octodad: Dadliest Catch follows some of that game’s infamous quirky-ness.
Assassin vikings and the year 873 AD by Ubisoft
The newest Assassin’s Creed game takes you to 873 AD, when the Vikings had started their expansion into England and the rest of Europe. It’s already launched on other consoles on November 10, with the PS5 version having released on the 12th instead.
A fantasy action RPG game involving an elite Knights Order
Godfall is a brand new IP from the creators behind the Borderlands series. It’s received mixed reviews so far, with some absolutely loving it, and some hating it, so you might need to do some additional research to see if it fits your tastes. Anyway, it takes place in a fantasy world, as an action RPG following the last remaining members of the elite ‘Knights Order’.
It’s Fortnite, it’s free, so yes, you technically don’t buy it
It’s Fortnite. I really don’t need to explain it. It’s higher quality on the PS5 with higher framerates. That’s really all.
A 3D platformer from the Little Big Planet series
This game follows the main protagonist(?) from the LittleBigPlanet series, and provides him with a Mario-esque 3D platforming game, developed by Sumo Digital (studio behind LBP3 and Forza Horizon 2). This little game packs some charm and platforming trials.
The PS5’s automotive combat version of Mariokart
This PS5 exclusive from Lucid Games is an “automotive combat game,” which takes place in some massive arenas where you destroy other racers from around the world. I get some MarioKart vibes from this, combined with the wild playing style of Rocket League.
Overcooked 1, 2, and all DLC combined with 4K60
Overcooked! All You Can Eat is a compilation series of Overcooked 1, Overcooked 2, and all of their respective DLC, combined with a 4K settings and 60 frames per second gameplay. All of this follows a fun little challenging game available on launch day.
Space exploration, countless planets and 32 player multi
No Man’s Sky used to be a very hated game, after extremely promises and game plans, until the developing team changed that around and turned it into a loved game by many. It’s been improved drastically over the last few years, including with this gen’s upgrade to 4K60, improved graphics, and 32 player multiplayer. There’s also a free upgrade if you own the game on PS4.
